Not only is cattle our passion but so to our love for our veld which shines through and is a foundation within our farming practise and ethos.
We rely on a symbiotic relationship between our beef herd, grass and soil not only to improve our natural resources but also to produce a natural product, free from as much human intervention possible.
Simbra
Our Simbra herd’s genetics have been developed on this specific farm for more than 20 years in an area high with tick borne diseases like redwater and heart water.
Our intention is not to rush or intervene with a cow’s natural cycle therefore Calves are instead weaned naturally by their mothers giving them the best advantage and start in life to develop natural strength and immunity to the area. We believe that over time this will show to be just as economically viable through our quality instead of trying to tamper with a cows intercalving period by removing the calf, giving the cow “rest” to conceive again. Not only does the calf suffer from weaner shock but also the cow is distressed. We allow the bulls near the cow while she has her calf as nature intended.
